The city’s municipal inspectors continue to strengthen enforcement, with an emphasis on fines, as to damage to the public sector. Most recently, a truck was seen hitting a tree and causing damage while exiting the Heichal Hatarbut parking lot. The truck driver did not stop to check if there was any damage to the tree. Because of a direct hit to the tree, a large branch broke and was a danger to passersby in the area. The driver was stopped a few blocks away by the city inspectors and instructed to return to the parking lot. He was shown the damage to the tree and was given a 730 shekel fine. Gardeners from the city’s Landscaping Division arrived on site to help and saw off the large branch that was damaged by the truck. The city’s inspectors drive around the city throughout the day in order to reduce damage in the public domain by issuing warnings and fines.
