Modiin Recognized as City for Olim

In March, Modiin Maccabim Reut Municipality will receive a commendation for being a city that encourages aliyah. The award given by the World Zionist Organization and the Federation of Local Governments for the first time. The purpose of the award is to highlight activities that encourage aliyah that are expressed in initiatives, education for aliyah, publications and ongoing activities for immigration and absorption.In a letter announcing the receipt of the award, it was written that "in the category of medium-sized cities, Modiin Maccabim Reut was worthy of a medal of excellence, after displaying a world full of Zionist endeavor to encourage aliyah among Diaspora Jewry."

According to the statistics from the Ministry of Aliyah, there are around 10,000 olim living in Modiin Maccabim Reut. Most of the olim came to Israel from North America. The city also has olim from South America, France, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Former Soviet Union and even Japan.
