The Division for City Improvements began upgrading 81 glass recycling containers as part of their plan to improve the visibility and appearance of recycling stations in the city. The containers, which are purple in color, have all been painted and the stickers on them have been replaced. The purple containers are spread around the city, near community centers like schools, the municipal pool on Emek Zvulun, next to Heichal Hatarbut on Emek Dotan, commercial centers, at the entrance to the Extreme Park on Menachem Begin and other areas of the city. According to the division's quality and environmental planning department, 97 tons of glass packaging were recycled last year. The recycling is carried out by the "Tamir" recycling corporation, which collects the glass containers from the containers, once every month and a half. Soon, the Division will begin upgrading the containers for textile recycling in the city. Click here for a full list of locations of recycling containers in the city.
