Work on the new bridge connecting the Nofim and Tzipporim neighborhoods is advancing. Following extensive and meticulous inspections to examine the bridge, the supporters were removed and it now stands independently. The Economic Development Company is continuing with the work on the lower portion of the bridge so that inner-city route 3 Sederot Yehuda Hamaccabi can be opened. At the same time, work continues to build the upper road ahead of the bridge opening. The upper road will allow cars to cross between the Nofim and Tzipporim neighborhoods and will include paths for pedestrians and lighting. The bridge and inner-city route 3 are expected to open in February, depending on the weather conditions that can disrupt the work times.
The bridge connecting Tzipporim and Mesuah opened more than a year ago for cars and pedestrians to cross between the neighborhoods. Work on the Nofim neighborhood, which is being built along route 431, is in advanced stages with residents expected to move in the middle of 2019. The neighborhood is being built on around 954 dunams and will include 1,845 apartments as well as shopping centers. There will also be 18 public buildings including schools and preschools. Another bridge will be built in the future connecting Nofim to the Moreshet neighborhood.
