Modiin Maccabim Reut began a campaign to encourage recycling electronic waste in the city. The Iriyah’s campaign is in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Department and M.A.I - Israel Electronics Recycling Corporation Ltd. The purpose of the campaign is to encourage recycling of electronic waste, which is only 2% of household waste, but its share of the pollution in household waste is very high at 70%.

There are three recycling containers for small and medium sized electronic waste, such as microwaves, kettles, televisions, computers and more. They are located outside the office of the Infrastructure Department in Maccabim (Derech Rishonim), next to the Ecological Farm (260 Rechov Ginat HaElla) and the parking lot behind Ironi Beit (4 Emek Yizrael).

In addition, there are recycling containers at the elementary schools, supermarkets and commercial centers for small electronic waste up to 50 cm. in size, such as batteries. The city’s Quality and Environmental Planning Department, noted that the recycling containers in the city’s elementary schools has been a significant step in educating and encouraging students and the public to recycle electronics.

Details available on the Iriyah’s website and www.mai.org.il
