The Iriyah and the Economic Development Company are currently upgrading signs at the city’s cemetery. The signs include a clear and organized map of the cemetery, as well as signs based on mapping of the burial plots. The city is also working on a project to install a computerized system through the Iriyah’s website to help visitors find where their loved ones are buried. The digital project is expected to significantly improve service to residents and visitors, and the process is expected to take several months.
The city’s cemetery is situated on the northeastern part of the Technology Park and extends over more than 30 dunams, including a building for funerals that includes a ritual bathhouse and eulogy hall. The plots in the cemetery include field burial (a grave dug in the ground), a double field burial and Sanhedrin burial (a grave in the wall). The first stage of the cemetery is complete and includes 3,100 plots on 8.5 dunams. The Iriyah is currently planning the second stage including 3,000 burial plots in the western part of the cemetery.
