Last Monday, there was an emergency municipal exercise in Modiin Maccabim Reut, during which the Home Front Command and the National Emergency Authority examined the city’s preparations for emergencies. The drill took place at the Home Front Command’s training site with dozens of workers from relevant departments including the city’s call center, social workers, education department, infrastructure department, security department and more. The exercise began with a situation simulating a war that has been going on for 10 days with fighting in the north and the south. The exercise simulated missiles falling inside the city and damage to buildings in the city, terrorist incidents, prolonged power outages, the city's preparations for the absorption of the evacuated population from the northern region, and other scenarios.
The exercise was opened with a briefing by Mayor Haim Bibas, presenting the data and difficulties facing the Iriyah, as well as the position of the Home Front Command, which determined that the home front should be kept as strong as possible and the functional continuity of the local authority. Afterward, Bibas instructed the Iriyah's emergency headquarters to act according to the data presented to him, with the main objective being to maintain routine as much as possible and to act to impose public order in the affected areas.
The "Mei Modiin" corporation also took part in the exercise where they dealt with a scenario in which there is a fear of water poisoning. Mei Modiiin opened a state-of-the-art situation room to provide a concentrated, high-quality and professional response while maintaining constant contact with all the relevant authorities in the Iriyah.
