Registration for the largest lottery of low-cost housing as part of the “Fixed Price” housing project in Moreshet closed on Sunday, three weeks after it opened. According to the data, 11,515 people signed up for the lottery in Modiin Maccabim Reut for 1,289 apartments – a ratio of 8.9 contenders for each apartment.

Out of the total number of candidates, 765 young couples are defined as "local residents" - those who have lived or grew up in Modiin Maccabim Reut. They are eligible to compete for 256 discounted apartments set aside for “local residents”, which gives them a ratio of 2.9 contestants per apartment. “Local residents” can also be part of the lottery to win apartments that are not necessarily set aside for residents which may increase the number of local winners.

A total of 41,856 people signed up for lotteries in 92 projects in 25 cities around the country. Modiin Maccabim Reut is the third city on the list of most requested cities, behind Rishon LeZion with 13,163 and Herzeliyah with 11,692.

The Moreshet neighborhood has a total of 3,607 apartments, with 2,520 low cost apartments as part of the “Fixed Price” housing project. This is the first time that preference in the lottery will be given to residents of the city, with at least 540 apartments allocated to residents. The lottery for the rest of the low cost apartments is expected to open at the end of 2017.
