The Iriyah announced the results of the first tender for the Moreshet neighborhood that will include 3,607 apartments. Around 2,520 of them will be part of the “target price” housing project and 540 of those apartments designated for young couples and families who are residents of the city. The companies that bid the lowest price per meter won the contracts. According to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Construction and Housing, the winning bids were between 8,585 NIS per meter and 10, 373 NIS per meter. Mayor Bibas said that there are around 1,200 residents who qualify for “target price” housing and he was able to come to an agreement to set aside 20% of the apartments for residents of the city. “Target price” housing apartments are sold well below market price. An 85 meter apartment will cost 944,000 NIS, 110 meter apartment will cost 1.2 million NIS and 120 meter apartments will cost 1.3 million NIS.
Twenty nine lots were part of the tender. The “Dona Company for Engineering and Construction ltd” won the tender to build on 16 of the lots and will build a total of 2,170 apartments in the neighborhood. “Wishahi & Amleh Initiative & Engineering ltd” will build 265 apartments on two lots, “Kachan Investments Company ltd” will build 242 apartments on two lots, “Taaman Nadlan” will build 23 apartments on two lots, “Peretz Bonei Hanegev” will build 159 apartments on two lots, “Bonei Hatichon” will build 155 units, “Mishkan Eliyahu” will build 112 apartments, “S.Gar Netiv” will build 90 apartments, “H.I.I.M. Bitan ltd” will build 79 aprtments and “Shlomo Cohen Company” will build 56 apartments.
The Moreshet neighborhood is still in the planning stages and will have five schools and 25 preschools. It will also be built with bike paths throughout the neighborhood. The Moreshet neighborhood is being built on the area formerly known as “area P”. The naming committee chose the name “Moreshet” and the street names will be for events, customs or people that impacted the country in different areas. The Moreshet neighborhood is part of the agreement signed in January 2014 between the Israel Land Authority, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Housing and Construction and Iriyat Modiin Maccabim Reut. As per the agreement, the land of the new neighborhoods will be developed by the city’s Economic and Development Company, with Moreshet being the third neighborhood of the agreement, after Nofim and the City Center. The fourth neighborhood will be Givat Sher.
