Twenty-one volunteers from the city’s Search and Rescue Unit of the Security Department completed advanced rescue training. The course is part of the process to build this unit to be prepared for emergencies, with an emphasis on earthquakes. As part of the city’s preparations for emergency situations - around two years ago- Modiin-Maccabim-Reut began recruiting volunteers and professionals including structural engineers, electricians and medical professionals.
The volunteers trained for three days at the Home Front Command base in Zrifin. The training consisted of practicing advanced rescue techniques, techniques for rescuing people buried under rubble, emergency medicine and collecting information about the population.
Shmulik Cohen, the director of the Security Department of Modiin-Maccabim-Reut said that the training was advanced and unique and was possible because the volunteers train throughout the year and he thanked the Home Front Command for organizing the training. Residents who are interested in joining and volunteering for the search and rescue unit should contact the Security Department at 08-9726190 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
