Update: Kite festival postponed to Saturday, February 23 due to the weather forecast.
Modiin Maccabim Reut’s annual Kite Festival will take place Saturday, February 16 from 10:00-14:00 at the Chativat Yiftach Park (corner of Emek Dotan and Yair Pereg). Residents are encouraged to bring kites from home but kites will be sold at the park (prices range from 35 to 120 shekels). There will also be "workshop kites" for sale with paints for painting and decorating the kite. The Kite Festival attracts amateur kite flyers from around the country, some who make their own kites. The highlight of the festival is watching the sky become a sea of color and shapes that can be seen from near and far. There will also be classic floor games for children, such as snakes and ladders, bowling, backgammon and more. Entrance is free. In the event of rain, the festival will be postponed to a later date.
