The Modiin Race, the city’s largest sports event, is coming up in a few weeks. According to the Sports Department of Amutat Sachlavim, more than 4,800 residents, students and soldiers from the Duvdevan Unit have registered for the race. On Friday, November 23, thousands of runners will participate in the various routes: 0.3, 1.8, 5, 10 and 21 kilometers, which will provide an intensifying sporting experience of varying degrees of difficulty. Preparation runs, where participants can get to know the route will be held on Friday, November 9 and Friday, November 16. Departure on both dates will be the starting point of the race at the intersection of Emek Dotan and Emek Yizrael.

According to registration data, the oldest participant in this year’s race is 81 years old and will run the 5 km route. With the opening of the new “chicken run” that was started this year, dozens of young runners who are already registered for the race will also be able to run along with their parents on a 300-meter track and even get the race medal at the end.

Early registration for the race, that provides a discount for residents, will close on Sunday, November 11. Residents can register for the race on the Sachlavim website at the discounted price. The number of spaces in the different routes are limited. Each participant will receive a Saucony running shirt and a special chip to measure time and distance in the competition. At the end of the run, the participants will be given medals and refreshing treats. In addition, shortly after the race, all the participants will be able to receive their photos from the track directly to their Facebook page using a special service to which the runners will register with the barcode number in the running system.
