Residents of the city who are interested in butterflies are invited to join the city’s first Nature Conservation group. Butterflies are a “biomarker" of the situation in nature, meaning that they allow us to learn the state of nature at all times. In the coming weeks a special group will be created and led by the Nature Preservation Society, in cooperation with Modiin Maccabim-Reut and guided by the national plan for monitoring the butterflies in Israel. After proper training, the group will begin monitoring the butterflies and continue monitoring throughout the year.

The first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 13 at 17:30 and will include a lecture about butterflies. There will be another meeting on Tuesday, September 27 at 17:00 and will include a lecture and field trip to learn about monitoring. The meetings will take place in the conference room at the Iriayh, 1 Rechov Tiltan. Participation is free but advanced registration is required. Registration on the Nature Preservation Society’s website, email, or call 08-9717686.
