This year, there are 30 teams from 27 schools in Modiin Maccabim Reut participating in the FIRST LEGO League robotics competition. The program is meant to encourage fourth through ninth grade students to engage in science and technology. The groups consist of 10 students that learn and work together on a research project and building a robot out LEGO. The topic for this year’s competition is “The human journey in the solar system” and groups have studied related issues (for example, preventing the weakening of bones in the body due to weight loss conditions, or dealing with space debris on the way to the stars).
