There was a conference at the AMIT Boys’ High School for the 13 robotics groups from schools in Modiin advancing to the FLL (FIRST LEGO League) national competition. The groups are from schools throughout the city including Re’im, Shivtei Yisrael, AMIT Boys High School, AMIT Girls High School, Yeshivat Lapid, Ironi Alef, Ironi Bet and Ironi Dalet. In addition, there is a team, run by the Learning Works, Team Alan Turing (students from various schools in the city are part of the team), that also advanced to the finals. This year’s competition is about HYDRO DYNAMICS where students learn all about water – how we find, transport, use or dispose of it. The FLL challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. During the HYDRO DYNAMICS season, teams will choose and solve a real-world problem in the Project. They will also build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO to solve a set of missions in the Robot Game.

Rav Tzachi, middle school principal at AMIT Boys started the conference by wishing all the teams good luck. The conference dealt with how to organize and prepare properly for the finals, how to improve the research and what should be emphasized in programming and building the robot according to FLL values. The national competition will be at the end of the month.
