The Modiin Maccabim Reut Municipality views improving the city's roads' infrastructures and increasing road safety in the city as one of the most important subjects on the municipal agenda. This week, after being pressured by the municipality, the Ministry of transportation approved the spending of 1.3 million shekels in order to build a traffic circle at the meeting point of Tiltan St., Dam HaMaccabim St., and Moshe Sena St. the construction plan includes landscape development, such as the placement of an olive tree at the center of the roundabout surrounded by seasonal flowers. This intersection is known by Modiin residents as a busy one, due to its location across from the Municipality Building, the fact that it leads of the schools, ganim, and medical center on Tiltan, and the fact that it connects Sderot HaChashmonaim and acts as a drop-off point for the inter-city buses. The municipality is currently planning the roundabout, and in a few months will begin to construct it.
Mayor Haim Bibas has also given instructions to perform geometric changes on Nofech St. in Avanei Chen, due to complaints by the area's residents. The street will actually be made smaller in order to mitigate traffic on it, and the gardens on the street will be widened. This process also includes situating "no entrance" signs to the cobblestone street, which was turned into a one-way street that now allows drivers to pass from Yahalom St. to Migdal Yam St. only.
