Early registration has begun for the 13th annual “Modiin Race”, once again being sponsored by the Mei Eden Corporation. This year’s race will take place on Friday, November 3, 2017. Good news for runners – this year there will also be a half marathon route of 21.1 kilometers.
Students from the local schools, thousands of residents and soldiers from the Duvdevan unit will participate in the race. There will be the usual three routes in the race: 1.8 kilometers, five kilometers and 10 kilometers as well as the 21.1 kilometer half marathon. There will also be a school competition with representatives from schools throughout the city.
The decision to add the half marathon route was made after residents requested the longer route. The half-marathon will begin at the corner of Emek Dotan and Emek Yizrael and continue west on Emek Zevulun until Sederah HaMercazit (Ligad Center) and from there to inner-city route 4 towards Paatei Modiin and then return on Sederot Yitzchak Rabin, Sederot HaChashmonaim, Emek HaChula south and Derech Yair Pereg to the finish line on Emek Dotan. There will be people along the way giving out water, playing music as well as a VIP area at the end.
The early registration cost for participation in the race is 70 shekels for residents for the 5 and 10 kilometer routes and 85 shekels for the half-marathon. The cost for non-residents is 85 shekels for the 5 and 10 kilometer routes and 100 shekels for the half-marathon. Each participant will receive a Saucony running shirt and a special chip to measure time and distance in the competition. Click here for full price list for all races and to register.
