Spring Arrives In Modiin
The beautiful shkediot (almond trees) are in full blossom, as seen in this photo from the recent biblical tour of Neot Kedumim. Flowers are everywhere, and we can enjoy the gift of living in the fertile Modiin area. This is the perfect time for hikes and trips.
New Olim Prepare for Tu Be'Shvat
A group of new olim planted trees and plants in honor of the upcoming holiday in Park Anabe in early January.
The event was organized by the city of Modiin, in the beautiful Anabe area, with many eager participants marking their new home in Israel by planting trees. We wish them luck on their journey as olim!

Mothers Complain about the Conditions of Modiin's Tipat Halav Branch
Mothers who come to the Tipat Halav branch in Modiin, located at the "Caravans" compound, are forced to deal with the place's negligence. Tipat Halav's main task of caring for the health and development of babies and children is actually being carried out, ironically enough, in run-down conditions at a portable and crowded building that has no access to baby strollers.
"I first came to Tipat Halav's caravan five years ago with my oldest daughter," shares Racheli Rozet from modiin. "The nurses there were amazing, and their treatment brought me to return here with my seven-month-old son -- but I was surprised to see that nothing has changed over the last five years. While all the surrounding caravans moved locations or were renovated, Tipat Chalav, the one place that is supposed to be protected and provide treatment to delicate babies, has been neglected. Its maintenance is poor, its air conditioner is broken, and its toys are broken or worn out. The conditions are very uncomfortable, and nobody fixes anything because they are always waiting for their building to be replaced."
In addition, the building and the location are not suitable for serving mothers with baby strollers. "There is no nearby parking," says another mother," and there is no entrance for baby strollers. If you didn't find parking right next to the caravan, you are forced to go up the steps with your carriages, and the trip turns into a bother and a very complicated task. There isn't even a ramp at the actual entrance, and you can barely enter with a stroller."
"You're sitting there with your son and you can't let him move," says Rozet. "I don't let him be on the floor there; it just isn't safe. The toys there are in bad condition. And I just hold him on my hands the whole time, and sometimes I have to wait a very long time after a vaccination -- so in that crowded room there are five other women sitting with strollers and babies in a very uncomfortable situation."
Following her last visit at the branch, Rozet decided to turn to the municipality and the Ministry of Health in order to change the situation and report the negligence. In her letter, she acts that they find an appropriate structure for Tipat Halav, for both the babies and the devoted nurses that work there. In her letter, she explains that "Personally, nothing will ever replace my Tipat Halav, and I think that you are causing great injustice to the women that work very hard in terrible conditions."
"The municipality is aware of the Tipat Halav's trouble for a long period of time," read the Modiin Municipality's official response. "The mayor, Haim Bibas, has instructed the municipality's professional to budget [renovations] or to locate a new structure."
The Ministry of Health responded that it is responsible for worrying about the branch's medical personnel and equipment, neither of which it is lacking. It is the Local Authority's responsibility to worry about a suitable location. The ministry have scheduled meetings with the Local Authority to discuss how to improve the building.
