Experienced English teacher? Study for an M.Ed in English as an International Language.
Talpiot College of Education in Holon has opened a two-year M.Ed program in English as an International Language for teachers of English. Some of the courses are basic to second degree programs, while others help to enrich the students' appreciation of the English language, English culture, especially its literature, and of the role of English worldwide.
In the program there is offered a variety of courses covering educational technologies such as the use of the computer in language learning, research methodologies, theories of English language teaching and language assessment; language- and linguistics-oriented courses, e.g. discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, language policy, and courses directly dealing with English as an international language and its cross-cultural aspects. Students also take courses in rhetoric and debating, negotiation and conflict management, and courses on literature, for example, Shakespeare and diaspora English literature.
To help teachers who are working, the program takes place once a week, on Wednesdays only. This will also help teachers who are on sabbatical, since it will allow them to do other programs, too.
The program, headed by Prof. Dennis Kurzon, with Dr. Elaine Hoter and Dr. Reena Reiner as program coordinators, is taught by a highly qualified teaching staff.
