Bowling Banter

Modiin Monday Night Bowling Club: On October 30, 2017, Asher Zeiger was the most consistent bowler, rolling all his scores within 6 points of each other (132, 138 and 134). Zeiger had a turkey (3 strikes in a row) in the second game of the series. Your faithful writer had his moment when he spared the 4-7-10 split in the 9th frame of the second game. Steve Klein rolled the highest game of this season in the third game, making mostly marks en route to a score of 172 in the third game. Klein also has the high three-game series (458) and high average (141.66) this season. The club meets the last Monday of each month at 20:30 (8:30 pm) and bowlers are welcome to join. The next session will be November 27.

Running Rambles

On Friday, November 3, 2017, the 13th annual Modiin Race was held. Harel Shane won the 5K course in 17:32.511. Yanai Kolodner, a student at the Yachad High School, finished in third place in a time of 18:03.769. Deganit Bagno, of the police department team, was the first female finisher, and was seventh overall with a time of 18:54.763. A total of 886 runners finished the 5K event. A total of 469 runners finished the 10K course. Haymro Almia was the winner in a time of 30:25.775. Luna Chamtai (10th place overall) was the first female finisher in a time of 36:15.234. In the main event, a 21.1K half marathon, Ezra Kibert won in a time of 1:19:04.252. The best local runner, Avigdor Book, was in third place with a time of 1:24:42.238. Anna Prais (14th place overall) was the first female finisher with a time of 1:32:53.486. A total of 300 runners finished the half marathon.

Soccer Sensation

Ben Sahar, playing for Hapoel Be'er Sheva, has netted one goal in five league games thus far this season. He also scored a goal in the one Toto Cup game they played and one goal in 3 Europa league games, making a total of three goals in nine games he has played this season.

Tennis Tribulations

Julia Glushko is currently ranked 305th in the World in singles and 178th in the World in doubles on the WTA circuit. She has a 21-24 won-loss record in singles and a 22-11 record in doubles in 2017 through the end of October. Julia has a career singles record of 326-282 and a doubles record of 167-147. She has earned $34,369 thus far this year. With career earnings of $798,444, she needs just $1556 to reach the $800,000 plateau.
