As the beginning of the school year approaches, the Iriyah is checking the air conditioners in the city’s school buildings. Each year, maintenance and cleaning of the air conditioners in the schools begins immediately after Pesach vacation. This includes running the air conditioners to check for problems, cleaning filters, switching from heat to cool (where relevant), and cleaning the motors. The Iriyah said that around 250 air conditioners were replaced in schools throughout the city over the summer.
The school caretakers have all been instructed to check the air conditioners and run them for four to five hours during the month of August and inform the Iriyah of any problems. There are more than 3,500 air conditioners in schools and preschools throughout the city. The air conditioners are checked every six months, with problems being taken care of as soon as possible.
